Becky Smith is a native of Canton, North Carolina. Her studio is set up at her parents’ home nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. She grew up on a working farm and from that learned how to work with her hands. She is a strong believer in “make it yourself” and attributes that to her parents who always encouraged hands on learning when she was young. As a child, she was always encouraged to be creative and in high school she started to take an interest in jewelry making. She quickly fell in love with creating wearable art and knew she wanted to pursue jewelry further; she attended the professional crafts program at Haywood Community College, where she graduated in 2014 with an Associate Degree in Jewelry.
After graduation, Becky worked part time at a well-known local gallery, while also working towards a full time jewelry career. After 5 years she made the decision to whole heartedly pursue her passion for Jewelry. So with the support of her husband Patrick she is now able to spend her days creating tiny bits of beauty that can be handed down from generation to generation.
Becky's work is inspired by the natural elements she encounters every day in nature. Her work is mostly one of a kind necklaces, earrings, bracelets and the occasional pin. She loves making jewelry and creating interesting new pieces that others can enjoy. Becky describes her work as “tiny stories frozen in time”. Becky is blessed every day with the talents and skills God gave her.
